wind storm, earth quake, fire, whisper

1 Kings 19:11-13 (NLT)
11 “Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the LORD told him. And as Elijah stood there, the LORD passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake.
12 And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper.
13 When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. And a voice said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

Father, I have read the story of Elijah and Elisha many times. The way they recount the wind storm, the earth quake, the fire...it is stated that you were not in any of these acts of nature that you presented yourself in a gentle whisper. Well, permit me a little creative reflection, you are the God of all creation, certainly you were in all these presentations of nature it probably took all those things to happen to render yourself in such an intimate way as a gentle whisper with your son Elijah. Truth be told, I believe there were spiritual forces opposing your visit with Elijah. I have read that our answers to prayers are released at the point of prayer but often buffet by the works of darkness. No one can stop what you are doing, but certainly there is a war of delay. Unfortunately, its in that delay that many surrender their hope of deliverance... of course the declaration is this... the Lord may not come when you need him but he is always on time. The wisdom of the ages have left us with this truth!

A word of wisdom, don't fear the delay.
