Can we talk?

 Psalm 27:8 (NLT)
8 My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “LORD, I am coming.”

Good Morning,

I woke up thinking, Father we need to talk. Hungry for prayer, hungry for my Father's presence.

Thinking about my meeting today, and our team's need to pray together. But I knew before I could pray for anyone, I needed to have my own time in the presence of my loving Father. I find myself reflecting, I love the Lord more every day! I spent the evening with my goddaughter; we went to the movies. We saw the true story of a man named Lee Strobel, a man that went from being an Atheist to a follower of Christ! His very own pursuit of Christ. I wonder, how many will begin this quest? How many are in the pursuit right now but may not realize it.

Lee Strobel wasn't pursuing to know; he was pursuing to tell humanity that there was NO GOD! NO CHRIST!... BUT the moment he stood before TRUTH & LOVE, he could no longer rise; eventually, each of us will fall to our knees and bow before God! As one man so eloquently put it, When truth wins out when our moment comes, we will sadly declare, we were lied too, cheated --Vowing in that moment of truth, "WE WILL NOT WASTE ANOTHER DAY IN UNBELIEF"!

Lee's life began in that moment of truth, and generational blessings followed. Lover of our soul, creator of all that is good and perfect; leave no heart empty of your presence.

This was an old blog, its been in draft mode since early Spring. Compelled to share it now-- may a seekers heart find it during this Christmas season. After all, it remains the very best gift that a person can receive.

feeling special...

Psalm 100:1-5 (NLT)
1 Shout with joy to the LORD, all the earth!
2 Worship the LORD with gladness. Come before him, singing with joy.
3 Acknowledge that the LORD is God! He made us, and we are his. We are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the LORD is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.

Good Morning Father,

Thinking about my son Stephen, turning 21 year's old and how much as a mom I love him. A desire for his life to be full of all that is good and perfect. Reflecting that as an earthly parent who desires so much for my sons how much greater is your love and your delight. There is something wonderful about making others feel special and set apart. That has been your longing for each of your children from the beginning of time. You created everything for our enjoyment. I can only imagine the garden of Eden and all its perfections. The weather never too cold or too hot, the flowers and trees in all their glory caused no one to sneeze or have an allergic reactions. The stars danced in the moon light, the birds sang in harmony, the animals played together freely...no foe!

My mind so limited, still I stretch my imagination as far as I can and still know I have not come close to its perfections. The garden most certainly was perfect, which means Heaven is beyond the human realm of comprehension. Our soul does know, but in our flesh we can only imagine. Loving you this morning, shouting for joy, worshiping with gladness, coming before you with singing. I am but one of the sheep of your pasture. Entering the gates with thanksgiving, entering your courts with praise. Giving thanks to you alone. Declaring you are good and your unfailing love continues forever. With a promise that this faithfulness will continue to the next generation!

For the record, I Can Only Imagine, by Mercy Me-- remains one of my playlist favorites!

WE GOT IT!

Finally Abram said to Lot, “Let’s not allow this conflict to come between us or our herdsmen. After all, we are close relatives! The whole countryside is open to you. Take your choice of any section of the land you want, and we will separate. If you want the land to the left, then I’ll take the land on the right. If you prefer the land on the right, then I’ll go to the left.” Lot took a long look at the fertile plains of the Jordan Valley in the direction of Zoar. The whole area was well watered everywhere, like the garden of the LORD or the beautiful land of Egypt. Lot chose for himself the whole Jordan Valley to the east of them. He went there with his flocks and servants and parted company with his uncle Abram. So Abram settled in the land of Canaan, and Lot moved his tents to a place near Sodom and settled among the cities of the plain. But the people of this area were extremely wicked and constantly sinned against the LORD.

After Lot had gone, the LORD said to Abram, “Look as far as you can see in every direction—north and south, east and west. I am giving all this land, as far as you can see, to you and your descendants as a permanent possession. And I will give you so many descendants that, like the dust of the earth, they cannot be counted! Go and walk through the land in every direction, for I am giving it to you.”
So Abram moved his camp to Hebron and settled near the oak grove belonging to Mamre. There he built another altar to the LORD.  Genesis 13:8-18 (NLT)

Good Morning,

This story of a family dispute, which led to the parting of ways finds its way back to my remembrance. Is it because I am a daughter of Abraham, one of the descendants too numerous to count. To be one in the crowd, and yet known.(ponder this) Abraham granted his nephew the option of the best land. Lot, took full advantage of that offer and chose what he believed was the best land. Think about it, the elder surrendered to the younger; should not the younger surrender to the elder. Whatever the dynamics in any given culture-- this is what I know... Nothing is blessed unless God blesses it! Lot chose what looked blessed which ultimately led to his destruction, Abraham accepted what was left and the land flourished and was blessed and so was Abraham.

Every heart reveals itself for what it is, Abraham's heart was revealed and God continually blessed him, no good thing would he withhold from Abraham. Once again, Abraham revealed his true heart. He was willing to sacrifice his son in obedience, he so believed and trusted God that whatever the outcome-- it would be Good! The kind of abandoned faith that many seek after.

But, Abraham wasn't seeking faith, he was simply faithful with each situation that presented itself. His assurance was a trust in the one that holds the whole world in HIS hands. Isn't that enough to obey and follow. To always be about seeking after the Creator and not the created things.

This practice leads to blessings...We are a blessed people when we get this and then walk like, live like, love like... WE GOT IT!

dressed...

Good Morning Father,

Mark 1:35-41 (NKJV)
Now in the morning,... He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed. ...Then Jesus, moved with compassion...

Never underestimating the need for a solitary place, a time to be still before you in preparation for what's ahead. There will always be something ahead. Last evening, I was blessed with an evening dinner and a concert with an old friend from my college days, even though we haven't seen each other in years, there was no awkward gap between us.  It was wonderful catching up on things. Sharing about our family and work. She ask me about my work in the ministry, identifying with the demands, the feeling of never being off. I understood; I knew what she was referencing, but I shared with her my commitment to not begin the day unprepared. That when I leave for the day, I must be dressed!

Dressed in every way; mentally, spiritually, emotionally, physically...  The above verses reminding me of the example of my Savior. He knew the need to retreat to a solitary place to pray before encountering the multitudes, the people, the demands of the day.

Prepared for the multitude...moved with compassion, that's the blessing of being dressed and prepared. Lord, please keep dressing me for what's ahead, I know you go before me, beside me, behind me, I know I'm covered. Many reflect on where this mysterious assurances comes from; honestly, I cannot fully put into words this confidence we have in Christ, for an unbeliever-- it just doesn't make sense, but once they are given to believe, they will see. The flood gates opening, the light piecing through the darkness, the scales falling from the eyes, what was a faint white noise, becoming crystal clear, an audible inward knowing, revealing the most beautiful truth, truth wrapped in unspeakable love and joy. Resonating with the song by Mercy Me, a version of it song at the concert last night, my friend and I sharing the love of the words of this song...  "I can only imagine" One can only imagine, oh that all would one day see!

goose bumps...

Genesis 18:14 (NLT)
14 Is anything too hard for the LORD?...”

Matthew 19:26 (NLT)
26 Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.”

Isaiah 9:6-7 (NLT)
6 For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the LORD of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen! (I get goose bumps every time I read these verses)

Good Morning,

Bible scholars reference the above verses as one of the "mountain peaks". On this mountain, we can rest all our cares and fears. Is anything to hard for God, is anything impossible? We know the answer is NO! That should rest every case! As for me, Today, I rest a case HERE once again! I say once again, because the humanity in us, makes us inwardly debate the answer to the question again and again...

The assurance is that our Father does not rebuke us for this life long pursuit of understanding. Truth be told; for as long as man has breathe, he will wondered, "how is this thing going to work out for me" Whatever "this thing" may be. Yes, we have seen how our cares and fears worked together for our good and not our destruction in the past, but that does not seem to be quite enough to face the care of the DAY!

No surprise here, I suppose that's why we were given this timeless prayer..."Our Father, which is in heaven, hallow be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day, our daily bread, forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors, lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil." A simple daily shift in power... AMEN!...

Casting Crowns in my playlist...  "THRIVE"
Joy unspeakable...
Faith unsinkable...
Love unstoppable...
We were made to THRIVE!

x factors...

Good Morning,

Yesterday, I couldn't seem to get myself motivated. I woke up-- only to return to bed within a couple of hours. Not motivated for much of anything, sadness and depression were pressing in from unfamiliar places. I allowed myself to succumb to the nothingness I was feeling. Thankfully, I had an engagement to attend a birthday dinner celebration for one of my brothers. Within minutes of the company of friends and families, my countenance begin to shift. Engaging in small talk while we waited to be seated. Someone made mentioned of the weather, it has been raining for several weeks now... she said, "I'm ready for the rain to end, this rain is making me sad". It was like a light bulb was turned on, I too had been affected by the gloomy, cloudy rainy days. Personally, I love the rain---but too much rain-- makes the brightness of the sun absent and both are very much needed.

The truth is, external factors weigh in on many things. External factors can make a good day bad, or a bad day good. External factors can make one sad, or make one happy. External factors can make us feel like failures or successes. External factors can give life or take life. This is the thing, the power is not in the "external factor" itself, the power is not knowing how these "X FACTORS" affect us! Once I understood why I was feeling so sad, the sadness went away, it was like I received a Big Dose of Vitamin D!

Clearly, there is a war raging inside and outside each and every person on any given day. Passivity will not cut it, we must be actively aggressive in all matters of our lives. When something unfamiliar creeps into our countenance, saps our sense of well-being, we must actively pursue the source. If we can't do it for ourselves; prayerfully, someone around us, someone near that does not need an invitation... can recognize the "funkiness" and give us a much needed dose of reality...with a boost of Vitamin G of course!

This my friends is why we don't want to "do life alone" We need each other!

still mad...

It's like a man who takes a trip, leaving home and putting his servants in charge, each assigned a task... So, stay at your post, watching. You have no idea when the homeowner is returning...You don't want him showing up unannounced, with you asleep...Mark 13:34-36 (MSG)

Good Morning,
Speaking to someone who understands assigned task, to know mine gives me great joy. I often reflect on what's required of me. Each day, making a list of some kind. To be found doing what I should be doing. I have experienced my employer walking in on me, thankful to be found doing exactly what I should be doing. The greater joy is doing what's required when no one is looking, no one to be accountable too, simply committed to internal integrity. After all; someone is looking, nothing escapes the omnipresent, omniscience God. For an audience of ONE we live. He is the one we will answer too.

As I reflect on this truth, I know the verse is speaking of when Christ returns. But there is truth in the parable itself. Its not just about being found doing a task, its about being found living. Really living, living for his glory, doing all we were created to do, fulfilling our purpose, finding joy in all that he created for our good, finding contentment in our work, in our relationships, finding fulfillment in being a son and daughter of the most loving God that created everything for our enjoyment. The earth is rich and there is richness therein for our pleasure. Yet, many are living lonely, empty lives. There should be no void in a child of God. So, whatever that lie is, it must be aborted quickly.

Whatever; we are in need of, its time to pursue it. That pursuit of happiness that belongs to us! We don't want our Christ showing up unannounced, with us asleep on our life. Personally, I'm still mad about the empty life I was living apart from Christ. I don't want to waste the remaining days of my life. Yes, I said DAYS!.  David wrote, teach us to number our days that we may grow a heart of wisdom. There is a sense of urgency when we see our lives in days.

So whatever you are doing this day. Do it with all your heart, soul and mind. Choose to ENJOY YOUR LIFE, WHATEVER SEASON YOU ARE IN...

  • It married, enjoy it! Don't waste days being mad and disappoint about this and that...
  • If single, Don't put off your life for what's next... enjoy today...
  • If parenting, enjoy each season of your child's life, for each season will pass faster than you know...
  • If Bored, check your weekend listing and call a friend, get out of the house enjoy the day for what it brings...
  • If you have a good job and are making good money, you are suppose to be enjoying the fruit of your labor...
  • If perceived as young and inexperienced, don't let anyone define/look down on you because you are young...You are a "world changer" "never forget you were created for good things"

Whatever you are pouting about, angry about, feeling sorry for yourself about...STOP! BE ABOUT LIVING TODAY!

justification...

Good Morning,

Jumping head first in an ocean of truth this morning, reflective...meditating on a devotional, I read this morning. It told the story of a young woman, seeking Mr. Right in an online forum. Feeling pressure from family and friends and just about everyone to "get married" The question, "would you advise her to consider non-believers in Jesus?" The devotional went on to reveal why that would not be a good idea, "while marrying a believer won't guarantee a happily-ever after marriage, it's God's right way for selecting a Mr. or Mrs. Right." (source: www.ourdailyjourney.org)

I get it, the truth has a way of throwing a wrench in our "so called happiness." Have you ever found yourself searching the bible for a justification, an excuse for something that you really desired...deep down you already knew the truth.  We start asking around... asking others what they think...sadly we tend to ask people we think will agree with us. 'I'm right...right?" This error works in reverse too. Sometimes its things we don't want to do... like...forgive someone who has hurt us, give to someone in need, serve, commit...

Sadly, we can be one click/call/coffee date... away from receiving some "really bad" counsel. Here is the best example/reminder of counsel we can give to those in Christ seeking justification for their wants and desires. From Mentor to Mentee...Paul to Timothy, There's nothing like the written Word of God for showing you the way to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.  Every part of Scripture is
God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God's way. Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us. 2 Timothy 3:15-17 (MSG)

Always mindful of those who have never heard the counsel/good news of Christ. Everything begins with this relationship.... Prepared to share this HOPE!

Flashback...

Good Morning Father,

Facebook, does what it calls a "Flashback" it captures things one was doing a year or so ago on the exact date. Thinking... what was on my heart and mind a year ago?

Flashback to my LifeJournal, February 10, 2016, "No Other"

This was the entry...

“So remember this and keep it firmly in mind: The LORD is God both in heaven and on earth, and there is no other. If you obey all the decrees and commands I am giving you today, all will be well with you and your children. I am giving you these instructions so you will enjoy a long life in the land the LORD your God is giving you for all time.” Deuteronomy 4:39-40 (NLT)

Good Morning Father,

As I sit in your presence this morning, meditating on words of life and truth. Your abiding presence-- something I long for daily. Daily drinking from your fountain, daily desiring the rivers of living water to flow from me and to share with those in need. We all desire to live a rich, long life. We are told that a day with the Lord is as a thousand years. I suppose I have lived longer than I know. I have experienced so much joy... and sorrow...the truth is-- joy without sorrow is not joy at all. Who would know good if bad was not present. These thoughts too wonderful for me and yet I seen to grasp the depths of its meaning.

Lord, you are taking me down another path of learning and maturity for your glory. I have come to understand even more that one can trust and yet experience suffering. Jesus trusted and yet he suffered at the hands of those who would seek to destroy him. Of course, the truth was that he was in control at all times, nothing taken... everything given. Nothing can be taken from us, but freely given is what is required of us. Freely given self, freely given praise, freely given sacrifice, freely given services, freely given love and truth. Everything good must be freely given.

Today, many sick and suffering are on my heart. As I reflect on the writer of the book of Luke... Luke was a physician. You permitted Luke to know the True Healer. Imagine a physician, witnessing the power of healing not from man made hands or science. You healed with a word, you healed with a touch, sometimes you sent a word from a distance. The conclusion: You are the God that heals our infirmities, every dis-ease that we encounter is subject to your power.

...Many private prayers followed...and a year later...I can see that God heard every prayer-- answered prayers and some still pending, but I can see the handiwork of God. The conclusion, there is "No Other!"

"tell me the truth"

Good Morning,

"The Truth", welcomed or un-welcomed. We are taught that we should speak the truth in love. As I ponder that statement, it dawned on me...Is the truth something that is so painful that it must be wrapped in love. We are told that the truth will set us free! Could it be that before we can truly be free, the truth may hurt for a time of healing; after all, didn't the surgeon just puncture a wound. How many times have we said these words, "be honest", 'tell me the truth" and when the answer came...we didn't like it very much. Defensiveness begins to rise, "who do you think you are" You're not that great yourself...the person on the other side...You told me to tell you the truth, this isn't about me, its about you. None of us are perfect, if someone pokes at us, we can easily poke back, but that defeats the purpose of hearing the truth. Truth, like correction is designed to release something needful and good, something that has been hidden or avoided.

Spending time with teens in particular, I know that a trust must be established before you can speak truth or correction. One must earned the right to be heard, many have a wall so BIG, that the climb over may take sometime. Where do these big walls come from, from disappointments, from people that did not keep their word, from hearing more negative than positive. We are told that God loved us too much to leave us messed up. We are told that we should love like he loved, so I suppose we are charged with the same. Love each other, so no one has to be messed up. (me paraphrasing)

Let's practice some "truth talk" scenarios...

1. This is the third job you were either fired or "let go". I have noticed that all you do is complain, every time I speak to you, you are running late for work. Maybe the problem isn't...

2. This is the fourth time you have been sent to detention, four different teachers have said that you were disruptive to the class. Can all four teachers...

3. Your daughter has quite the temper, the littlest things really bother her. Recently, when we were at  lunch, you really went off on our waitress. Where do you think your daughter gets...

4. You seem to get really upset when people call you selfish, but I have noticed that you rarely go out of your way for anyone that did not benefit you....

Personally, I have been the recipient of many "truth talks" I recall one of my brothers in Christ sharing with me that I should never wear a "particular outfit" again. Yep! just like that! And, I NEVER DID! Another shared with me that I talk too much sometimes, and I had a tendency to say "You know" too frequently in conversation. Now, I can say these are the person's opinion which they are entitled too, but wisdom says, let's see if there is truth present. These may seem like little things, but depending on where a person is when they hear "truth" can be very telling. Fact, getting truth and honesty is harder than it seems. We are so accustomed to telling people what they want to hear, the rare breeds of the "truly honest" have very little friends. Nevertheless, there are certain truths that are "life and death", the difference between ones "success or failure" that must be spoken and if the truth causes us a temporary loss, so be it! (If love was genuinely applied, the person will return with a heart of gratitude)

I have heard the phrase, Feedback is the Breakfast of Champions. I would like to add TRUTH TO THIS BREAKFAST!  Let's love each other enough...

good news or bad news...

Good Morning,

Not sure how to start my thoughts this morning, they seem to be going in many different direction. It's like being at a movie and seeing the previews, you get the just of it but not the whole of it. I was thinking about a scene in the 'Wiz", a line first spoken by Grace Jones, people probably don't even remember her, I haven't seen her in anything lately. The line goes like this, "Don't Nobody Bring Me No Bad News!"

I recently attended a play, "Heavens Gates, Hells Flames", this production has been running worldwide for over 20 years.  The tagline, "where will you be when reality strikes". The  story paints a very clear portrait of Heaven & Hell. The invitation to follow Christ is open to ALL men,, but all men will not RSVP. I wish the outcome was as simple as missing a Grand Celebration. After hearing about how wonderful it was, we regret not attending-- but that's it, we think to ourselves...next time.

The play introduced many circumstances where people had the opportunity to accept Christ. Friends sharing with friends, children sharing this goodness with their parents and vice versa, people sharing their hope with co-workers etc.. Some accepted and some rejected....some simply said..."not now"...the dramatic conclusion...Death!

Both believers and unbelievers could see the Glory of the Gates of Heaven! Imagine that for moment...Everyone will see HEAVEN, but everyone will not go there. We are taught in scriptures that every knee will ultimately bow and confess Christ as Lord.  My heart grieves deeply at this reality, the invitation is pre not post. This invitation is for the living...

We don't see this visual very often any more; after all, people only want to hear good news. GOOD NEWS WE GOT!...for some... maybe the good is not enough, sometimes we may have to be the bearer of bad news. Wouldn't you rather know sooner than later that their is an eternal conclusion to your choices.

At the close of this production, people all over the theater came forwarded and accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior. Some may say, they only came because they were afraid not too, after all you scarred them.

Whatever the reason, the conclusion is real!

John 20:29 (NLT)
29 Then Jesus told him, “You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.”

someone...

Good Morning,

Reflecting on these parting words from our spiritual mentors. Men who lived the words they spoke about. Joshua, who had declared very early, that "As for him and his household they would serve the Lord" He spent his life sharing this good news and in his last days he gave these parting words, 'Cling tightly to the Lord..." Paul too, gave his life in service, he declared that the people who had come to follow Christ through his ministry were a joy and a crown for his work."  His parting words..."fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable.."

Living in a time where mentors, coaches and small groups are becoming a "hot commodity" again...If we polled the most successful people in the world, they would all acknowledge that they had support, parents/friends, wise counsel, pastors, teachers, mentors, coaches, people who believed in them. Someone who saw greatness/potential in them. It was never God's heart for men to be alone, and I'm not just speaking of marriage. No one would argue this truth, "two are better than one, for they can help each other succeed"

I was recently ask the question, "who helps you, who do you have in your life that will poor into you?" Having just come out of my "chair time" Those who know me, know this time is very precious to me. My time with Father! Never have I left His presence empty; however, I have wisdom enough to know that he uses people to perfect and bless my life. I am surrounded by wise counsel, people who practice what they believe. I am surrounded by coaches and mentors that push me towards excellence even when I want to resist or feel inadequate for the task. I have sisters who love and accept me and who can completely identify with me but at the same time if I'm "off" they will let me know "what's up!" I have a husband that believes I can do just about anything, so supportive and blind... LOL.

One of my gifts, is the gift of encouragement, from that gift came a Life Coaching Practice. One of the first conversations with a new client goes something like this, "Are you living the life you were purposed for?" Sadly, many people don't think about those things, life happens and they go with the flow. "I'm playing the cards, I've been dealt." Blind sided by their circumstances. Not to be sarcastic but the next question that follows..."How's that working for you?" "That "AHHA" moment, when they realize there can be so much more, that they have choices, that a "good life" is a reality...

Allowing someone else to come along side and reveal the blind spots. Truth be told, none of us can fully see ourselves, we need people in our life. People we trust, people that we know are "for us!"

Whatever the excuses, the reasons, the fears...We need people, we need a place to be transparent and free so that we can...LIVE... I pray that everyone, has someone!

Joshua 23:8 (NLT)
8 Rather, cling tightly to the LORD your God as you have done until now.
Philippians 4:8-9 (NLT)

8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
9 Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.

missing...

Good Morning Father,

With the 21 Days of a corporate prayer & fast behind us, praying that everyone will hold firmly to all that was gained in this 21 Day period. For some, this was the beginning of a new season of trust, a time to forgive, for others it was a time to let go of the past and press for what is ahead to know that good things are purposed for them. I'm sure amazing things happened in this season that no one knows but God, but this is the thing...whatever happens in private, ultimately will reveal it self in public. When God transforms a life, it cannot be hidden. It may take a moment for others to come to terms with the new person we are becoming, but time will make believers out of them. I am so thankful that God transforms people, it was those transformed people that revealed a loving God to me.

This is the thing, I was a rebellious child...deservedly, given the title "angry heifer." At the time, I did not understand why I was so angry, why trouble just seem to find me. It was the same thing with dirt, no matter what I could not stay clean. I hated baths. In hindsight, this is kind of funny. No one who knows me now- would believe I was anything other than a nice little girl. lol. We all have beginnings, there are things that happen in our life that are completely out of our control and honestly there are times when we intentionally make poor choices, making little 'to do' of the consequences of those actions.

For me, I finally grew tired of myself and my poor choices. At some point, I needed to take responsibility for my actions. The cycle of trying to be right and failing began...at the time I had know idea where this cycle would take me...The first thing that happen is that I started making new friends. I didn't know at the time that these were "good girls" "godly ladies" not perfect ladies, but daughters who had grown up in godly homes, with parents that loved God. There was something different about them. I imagined what it was like to be a "daddy's girl". They were daddy's girls. I was drawn to them and their families. Slowly, they began inviting me to church. I knew about God because my Grandmother went to church and I did see a transformation in her, but I didn't understand about a "relationship with God". Sure, I prayed to get out of poor choices, or pass a class that I was failing. But I didn't know that God could love me!

God loved me...GOD LOVED TINA. I did not grow up with a father, so I had no one to compare God too. I didn't know the love of a good father or a bad father... I didn't know what I was missing...

Blessed to say, I AM no longer missing anything...I have a Father who loves me...Everything in me desires to be attentive to his voice, to abide in his counsel..."I AM A DADDY'S GIRL"

There is a missing piece in every one us, a void that only one person can fill. Many will try in vain to fill that void, but there is only one way, one person that can satisfy an empty longing life...GOD! ...Father, Son, Holy Spirit!

Trust me when I say...no matter the gains in your life, it will be temporal apart from Christ...

Philippians 2:13-18 (NLT)
13 For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.
14 Do everything without complaining and arguing,
15 so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.
16 Hold firmly to the word of life; then, on the day of Christ’s return, I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain and that my work was not useless.
17 But I will rejoice even if I lose my life, pouring it out like a liquid offering to God, just like your faithful service is an offering to God. And I want all of you to share that joy.
18 Yes, you should rejoice, and I will share your joy.

end game...

Good Morning Father,

Its day 21 of the 21 Days of Prayer & Fasting...TODAY...We are charged with "Sowing for where we want to go, what we want to be, and what we will accomplish. What have we learned?" Meditating on the gains that we have made by the power of God, considering our resolve to W.I.N. (Walk In Newness), preparing our best seed and sowing it into the house of God. Remembering to water our seed with thanksgiving and continuing to live a consecrated life.

Simply stated, sow for where you want to go...we have been given SEED. The challenge here is to take full advantage of that seed. I wonder how many of us have hidden our seed, buried it in places that get no sun or water. Tucked it away somewhere; concluding someday... Someday for me is TODAY!

TODAY I WILL, sow my seed...I will accomplish all that God has for me. I will sow seeds of love, of hope, of peace, of forgiveness, of healing, of unity, of purpose, of acceptance, of greatness, of victory, I will sow until everyone the Lord places in my path has an opportunity to WIN...

This is me, my greatest joy, my "end game" comes from seeing others reach their full potential. To become ALL that God has purposed them to be, if I can be apart of that, then I have fulfilled my purpose...

What about you...what's your end game...

thank you...

Good Morning Father,

Day 20 of the 21 days of Prayer and Fasting. "Thanksgiving Day" We are compelled to give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. Reminded that in my distress I prayed to the LORD, and the LORD answered me and set me free. That the LORD is for me, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me? Yes, the LORD is for me; he will help me...

Thanksgiving Day, one of our annual holidays in our nation, I love it when the nation has an opportunity to celebrate together. Yet, I long for Christmas, a reminder of the greatest gift ever given. The day I opened that gift, my life changed forever. From that day, to this day...I have reason to give thanks... I reflect on these two power words...THANK YOU! One of the first manners we teach our children is...say...THANK YOU when someone gives you something...

Feeling a little childlike this morning...Thank you that I can see, hear, smell and taste. Thank you for opening my eyes this morning so I can see your goodness, thank you for the breath of life given to me another day, thank you that I could brush my teeth and bathe my body, thank you that I could enjoy my breakfast, thank you that I have family to love me, thank you for a loving husband, that adores me as I am, thank you for sons that desire time with their mama, thank you for my dog, Simba who is never in a bad mood:), thank you for allowing me to use my gifts in service, thank you for laughter, thank you for joy, thank you for peace, thank you for my brothers and sisters in Christ who daily add to my life, thank you for a home to live in, for good food, for a body that can still run and jump, thank you for placing words in my heart that speak life and not death. Thank you for the assurance that You are for me...

No matter what, we will always have reasons to give thanks...

...so unworthy...

Good Morning Father,

Its day 19 of the 21 days of Prayer and Fasting, It's "Petition Day"! An invitation to communicate with our Father, the desires of our heart. Simply put, a day to bring our prayer request. We are instructed to ask, so we can receive, to seek, so that we can find what we are in need of, to keep on knocking with assurance that the door will be open to us. This is not a day to demand what we want, after all we are not spoiled children, but its a day to discuss with our Father what he wants for us. Praying in line with His will is the key to getting what we ask for. To communicate with my Father, to have a discussion about those near and dear to my heart, to have confidence that he hears my prayers and that those prayers are pleasing to his ears.

The scriptures compare earthly parents, stating that earthly parents know how to give good gifts to their children, how much more will a heavenly father give good gifts to those who ask him. As a parent, I desire so many good things for my sons, I tell them often I long for great things for them, greater than they even desire for themselves. We communicate about the desires of their heart, the things they are working for and seeking after. As I listen, I know how to pray and intercede on their behalf, I watch for opportunities to connect them to their purpose. To encourage them along their pathway to excellence. I remind them, that God cares about the desires of their hearts, and no good thing will he keep from them. That everything that is good and perfect comes from Him!

Good or bad, our children will interact with God based on how they interact with us. If a child had a loving father, they will see God as a loving God, if they had a harsh, disciplinarian mother, they will see God as a harsh disciplinarian. When I was a little girl, I don't recall asking for much. As a teenager of course there were things I desired, but each request was met with opposition, a lecture of some kind, "do you think money grows on trees".  How is it that every parent in the world uses that same line. LOL! Honestly, that thought has come to my mind a time or two.

It took me awhile, to learn how to come before God, to know that I was welcome to come in His presence and share the desires of my heart. Even now, most of my prayers are not for myself. My petitions are for those I love, for those I see sad and lonely, for those who have been rejected and abandoned, for those without power to defend or provide for themselves, for the elderly widows in my life, for the children without loving parents, for the victims in our world, that they would be victims no more.

As I type these words, I now understand that these are the prayers that please my Father, these are the prayers He wants me to bring before Him. Wow! The desires of my heart are aligning with my Father's will. This is the thing though...over the years of my life, all 53 of them thus far...all that I have needed, He has provided...many of the good things in my life, I never actually prayed for...seeking Him daily...added things I could only have imagined...

So Unworthy...yet so THANKFUL!

motive...

Good Morning Father,

Its Day 18 of the 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting. Today's focal point, "Ensuring Proper Motives". Motive links to the word "motivate". Motive tends to have a negation connotation, whereas motivate/motivation creates a positive reaction for the most part. Breaking it down even further...It's simply the "WHY". We are born asking why, little kids drive their parents crazy with the why questions. Those inquisitive little minds...so amazing. I believe God created us to be seekers, its like he invites us to ask, "Why God?"

His consistent response, "Don't Worry"; "Trust in the Lord"; "Take Delight in the Lord"; "Commit Everything you do to the Lord"; "Be Still in the Presence of the Lord", "Stop Being Angry"...WHY? Because, I GOT THIS! I GOT YOU!

One of my favorite verses is Philippians 4:6-7, "Don't worry about anything, instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace..." One of my sisters put music to these lyrical verses, it is still #1 on my playlist. Real talk, we have grounds to worry everyday. Everyday something or someone gives us reason to worry. We worry about our relationships and the safety of our children, we worry that the desires of our hearts will not be fulfilled, we worry about those who are sick and suffering, we worry about finances, we worry about our government, we worry about the evil and hatred in our world... The problem with worry is that it drives our motives/our why. We often hear the phrase "hurting people, hurt people" How many of us have found ourselves angry/hurt about something happening to us or around us...Anger does not guarantee a "wrong motive"...but we must guard what happens from our anger.

Now, we can worry and be angry...OR we can PRAY...but we can't do both! "Ensuring the Proper Motives", requires much prayer. To have a kingdom mindset that ensures/creates a kingdom agenda/motive requires ALL QUESTIONS BE TAKEN HIGHER!

Motivated to go higher this morning...YOU GOT ME!

Don't worry about anything...Enjoy! https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=7Am161P_PsU

no longer CEO...

Good Morning Father,

It's day 16/17 of 21 days of Prayer and Fasting. The focus, "I Believe Therefore I Confess". May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, my rock and my redeemer...I pledge my allegiance to the Lord, aligning my life in submission to the loving instructions, commandments and laws purposely and intentionally gifted to me for my good. I get it!

But! I know there are those who don't like to be told what to do, after all, "you're not the boss of me" One of my sisters is an Educator, she shares with her high school students that they are the "CEO's" of their lives. No one can make them do anything, they will decided if they succeed or if they fail. That's true of all of us! The Lord gave us all FREE WILL. We always have a choice. Truth be told, God always wanted us to choose. To love because we want to, not because we have too. No one wants to receive love or have something done for them out of obligation or guilt.

This is the thing, when I believed God and confessed all that had separated me from him, I could see clearly that the path that I was on could not and would not render the desired outcome for my life.  I no longer desired my will, I wanted His will. I desired a good life, a joy filled godly marriage, sons who would grow up to love the Lord and discover success in his will, a peaceful home,  mental and physical well-being, friendships, professional success, laughter...lots of it:) As I sought the Lord with all my heart, choosing to obey His teachings, what was promised in his word happened!! All that I had desired has been added/adding to my life every day... yes, there are days when life is far from easy, bad days are real, seasons of uncertainty (physical, relational, financial) are real, loss of love ones are real...yet in our darkest hours...the promised light still comes through...

No longer the CEO of my life, I have freely given over that position of authority...

Psalm 19:7-14 (NLT)
7 The instructions of the LORD are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
8 The commandments of the LORD are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are clear, giving insight for living.
9 Reverence for the LORD is pure, lasting forever. The laws of the LORD are true; each one is fair.
10 They are more desirable than gold, even the finest gold. They are sweeter than honey, even honey dripping from the comb.
11 They are a warning to your servant, a great reward for those who obey them.
12 How can I know all the sins lurking in my heart? Cleanse me from these hidden faults.
13 Keep your servant from deliberate sins! Don’t let them control me. Then I will be free of guilt and innocent of great sin.
14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.

especially yours...

Good Morning Father,

It's day 15 of the 21 Days of Prayer & Fasting. Today's petition..."Lord, Anoint Me with Your Power"...To anoint, simply means a "special setting apart".  Thankful to be forgiven, no longer separated by our evil thoughts and actions. No longer far...more than near...Christ in me...POWER! No longer hidden, no more secrets, we have available to us, a complete knowledge of his will, spiritual wisdom and understanding...

Available! We have available to us a way to live that will always honor and please the Lord, and will produce every kind of good fruit. We actually can grow as we learn to know God better and better.

To produce...To grow...No matter our age or stage, there is MORE...For years, I have heard my Pastor say this words, "I want EVERYTHING God has for me" "God came to give us new life, abundant life, eternal life" God has high standards...but he gave us power...exceeding power, exceedingly, abundantly, above what we could even imagine or think power!

Lord, Anoint me...especially set me apart with your power...to love wholeheartedly, to serve joyfully, to give freely, to forgive immediately... to diligently coach, empower and encourage the next generation, to obediently write the book(s) you have birth in me...To leave a LEGACY...

What about you? What have you been set apart for... ESPECIALLY YOURS!...May the Lord, Anoint YOU...

two little words..

Good Morning Father,

Day 12 of the 21 days of prayer and fasting...Day 13, 14...three days to meditate on the heart beat, the back bone, the very core of our existence, who we are, or ever hope to be..."I FORGIVE!" Two little words, could not be so BIG!

Lord, have I truly forgiven everyone that has offended me... hurt me, used me, betrayed me, lied on me, denied me...deceived me...spoke ill of me...did not value me as a person...?????????????

There is freedom in FORGIVENESS...There is power in FORGIVENESS...

Mark 11:22-25 (NLT)
22 Then Jesus said to the disciples, “Have faith in God.
23 I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart.
24 I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.
25 But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.”

who do you trust...

Good Morning Father,

Its day 11 of the 21 days of prayer and fasting. The statement "I Trust the Lord", the questions "do you really trust the Lord?" "do you really depend on HIM?" Inhaling, Exhaling, Inhaling, Exhaling...I feel like Peter, when the Lord was asking him, do you love me? He ask him this question repeatedly...Leaving Peter a bit exasperated...You know ALL things Lord, you know I love YOU...

The title of my Journal is TRUST! Some 20 years ago on my birthday, Jan 8th. My husband and I were on our way out to dinner, when I received a call from Credit Card company, the gentlemen on the line said. "Hello, Mrs. Robinson, I just want to confirm your purchase for $5000" That was the beginning of several more purchases and several more phone calls. In one night... "I had purchased over $30k worth of merchandise." For weeks I received credit card statements in the mail. Some with personal notes, "Happy Birthday, I hope you enjoy your new diamond bracelet" In that season, I felt so vulnerable and violated. My emotions swung. Anyone who has ever had their identity stolen, knows the road back is not always an easy process.

A few years prior to this event, I had to go a court to pay a traffic violation. Standing in line, waiting my turn to pay my ticket, I kept observing people coming out from the back offices staring at me. After, I paid my ticket, the clerk ask me if I wouldn't mind having a seat, there was some thing she needed to confirm. I sat for over an hour waiting, one by one people kept coming out and peeking at me. I later learned, that someone who looked just like me had been involved in several bank robberies. Apparently, everything about me, matched her... fear rising in me...I had done nothing wrong, what if I am held responsible for something I didn't do?  After, what felt like a life time of waiting...A detective came out and gently spoke this words. "we are so sorry for the confusion, it turn out that the other woman had a distinctive birthmark on her face" I didn't...

Situations like these, and many more life circumstances throughout the years...I have found great comfort in knowing that I have someone that I can depend. Someone who can fight my battles, be the source of all that I have need of, someone that know matter what life deals me, will never leave or forsake me. Someone that can declare without a shadow of doubt... this thing happening to you is working out for your good! The circumstances of my life have drawn me closer to my Father! For over 20 years, daily I remind myself through every journal entry..."I TRUST YOU LORD"

With this resolve, I have a peace that can never completely articulate. Instead of living in fear of  "what if"... I live in a FREEDOM that declares...BUT GOD!
.
..YOU CAN TRUST HIM TOO!

"Do"

Good Morning Father,

It's day 10 of 21 days of Prayer and Fasting. "I Focus" pt 2.  Reflecting on what should be my focus in this season of my life. In part 1, I discerned it was necessary to separate out what we should not be doing in this season. Romans 12, again the suggested text. One of the things, I love about the word is that it always provides full and complete counsel/answers/clarity. "don't to that" "do this" Today, "we focus" on what "to do" in this season....

  • Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world... Do: Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think
  • Don’t think you are better than you really are... Do: Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves
  • Don’t just pretend to love others... Do: Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good
  • Never be lazy...Do: Work hard and serve
  • Don’t curse them (people who curse you)...Do: Pray that God will bless them
  • Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people...Do:  Live in harmony with each other
  • Don’t think you know it all!...Do: Live in harmony with each other
  • Never pay back evil with more evil... Do: Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable.  Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.
  • Never take revenge... Do: Leave that to the righteous anger of God
  • Don’t let evil conquer you...Do: Conquer evil by doing good

Today its about our "To Do's"...In this season of our history, its like God is speaking from Heaven, reminding us that His ways never change! What an opportunity to respond to situations and circumstances with a resolve that we can be different...that we can make a difference!

"Don't"

Good Morning Father,

Day 9 of the 21 Days of prayer and fasting. Today, "I FOCUS". What should be my focus in this season of my life? As I meditate on the suggested text in Romans 12. For the first time in quite awhile, my eyes kept going to the things I should not be doing/focusing. The "don't" and the "never"! Being the optimist that I am, my focus is seldom on this part of the text. However; TODAY, in this season...I discern that these powerful reminders magnify for good reason!

  • Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world
  • Don’t think you are better than you really are
  • Don’t just pretend to love others
  • Never be lazy
  • Don’t curse them (people who curse you)
  • Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people
  • Don’t think you know it all!
  • Never pay back evil with more evil
  • Never take revenge
  • Don’t let evil conquer you...

I love apples...

Galatians 5:22-23 (NLT)
22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

Good Morning Father,

Day 8 of the 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting, Today, "I RECEIVE"! Today, we meditate on the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Our guide, who dwells and richly empowers us to live effective lives. Our guide plants in us the power to produce. He produces fruit in our lives. This kind of fruit reveals itself in love, in joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. When we see this kind of fruit, we have evidence that a "good God seed" has been planted.

We are told that whatever is on the inside of us, will eventually show on the outside. People can try to mimic these behaviors, and it may look very good on the outside, but just like the fruit we eat, when we cut it open and give it a taste we know the truth. It may not be quite right; perhaps, it was picked to soon, or picked too late, maybe it will be okay to eat if its mixed with something else or blended...perhaps its no use at all-- I love apples, I have one every day. Fuji is my apple of choice-- its crisp, sweet and when picked properly its ready for consumption, just a little wash is all that's required.

Today, we receive a fresh watering, a refilling of the power of the Holy Spirit at work in our lives. Making our FRUIT ready for consumption, good through and through, inside...out...May what you see, be what you enjoy!

Why we PRAISE!

Psalm 150:1-6 (NLT)
1 Praise the LORD! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heaven!
2 Praise him for his mighty works; praise his unequaled greatness!
3 Praise him with a blast of the ram’s horn; praise him with the lyre and harp!
4 Praise him with the tambourine and dancing; praise him with strings and flutes!
5 Praise him with a clash of cymbals; praise him with loud clanging cymbals.
6 Let everything that breathes sing praises to the LORD! Praise the LORD!

Good Morning Father,

Day 7 of the 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting. "I Remember" "I Praise"!
Praising your mighty works this day, praising your unequaled greatness! Even though I personally have no gift of praising your name through an instrument or a voice that sings on key:)  May my LIFE be an instrument of Praise to you Father!

Reflecting on my WHY this morning! May we never forget WHY WE PRAISE!

Nothing more...

Psalm 32:1-11 (NLT) A Psalm of David!
1 Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight!
2 Yes, what joy for those whose record the LORD has cleared of guilt, whose lives are lived in complete honesty!
3 When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long.
4 Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat. Interlude
5 Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the LORD.” And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. Interlude
6 Therefore, let all the godly pray to you while there is still time, that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgment.
7 For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory. Interlude
8 The LORD says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.
9 Do not be like a senseless horse or mule that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control.”
10 Many sorrows come to the wicked, but unfailing love surrounds those who trust the LORD.
11 So rejoice in the LORD and be glad, all you who obey him! Shout for joy, all you whose hearts are pure!

Father God!

Day 6 of 21 days of Prayer and Fasting today's focus: "I WORSHIP" David has encapsulated every expression of truth in these statements. There is nothing more to say about this! Personally, I wish I could say...I don't have first hand knowledge of this text but that would not be true...The word says, "THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN FORGIVEN MUCH, LOVE MUCH/MORE"!

We love because we are loved! We forgive because we are forgiven! We have every reason to WORSHIP!

Unsealed lips...

Psalm 51:12-15 (NLT)
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you.
13 Then I will teach your ways to rebels, and they will return to you.
14 Forgive me for shedding blood, O God who saves; then I will joyfully sing of your forgiveness.
15 Unseal my lips, O Lord, that my mouth may praise you.

Good Morning Father,

Day 5 of the 21 days of prayer and fasting. "I REPENT" This focus covered the span of three days, revealing to me that repentance is a process. The act of repentance is a simple one, a true act of confession and a true act of forgiveness follows. While that happens all at once in the presence of a loving God. If we bring it up later, our God would have no record of that conversation. All has been forgiven! It's our own conscience that takes time to accept forgiveness. There is a time to be restored, there is a time to be taught why we don't want to continue in a pattern of sin, there is that moment when we know we have been completely forgiven, and something begins to stir inside of us, a joy, a song. Our lips no longer sealed. Our mouth full of praise!

There is no greater song than the song of one who has been forgiven. This kind of forgiveness wrapped in a love that we know is undeserving. There was nothing we could do to earn it, no act of service, no act of giving something in return...the state of knowing that love has been set on you. Just as you are. JUST AS I AM...

JUST AS I AM...No more to be said about that!

a "heart matter"

James 4:7-10 (NLT)
7 So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.
9 Let there be tears for what you have done. Let there be sorrow and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy.
10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.

Good Morning Father,

It's Day 4 of 21 days of fasting and prayer. "I REPENT" we are taking three days to focus this particular "heart matter." Repentance is no simple act, well...actually it is...It begins with us humbling ourselves before God, then the power of God in us does the rest. He gives us power to resist the devil, causing him to flee. The devil, our adversary finds his way into our lives by our own desires, deep in the heart of men is the appetite for sin, he simply provides the temptation to act. Now the act is where our power lies, there is no sin in the temptation its when we take the next step that we give our power over to the enemy and then the destruction begins. We are daily invited to come close to God and he promises to come close to us, some version say "draw near". The nearer we are to God the further we are away from sin and temptations.  When we repent of our sins, the Lord is near. There is nothing hidden from God, He KNOWS!

Repentance gives us the opportunity to be forgiven. He can't forgive what we won't confess. Oh to come clean! Jeremiah 29:11. I know the plans I have for you says the Lord, they are plans for good and not for disaster. Plans to give you a future and a hope.

What I love about the Lord is that He always provides away to be made right again, a way back home. Today may we declare Psalm 27:4 (NLT) 4 The one thing I ask of the LORD— the thing I seek most— is to live in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, delighting in the LORD’s perfections and meditating in his Temple.

a FREE gift...

Romans 5:15-17
But there is a great difference between Adam’s sin and God’s gracious gift. For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus Christ.
And the result of God’s gracious gift is very different from the result of that one man’s sin. For Adam’s sin led to condemnation, but God’s free gift leads to our being made right with God, even though we are guilty of many sins. For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ.

Good Morning Father,

Today is day 3 of the 21 days of prayer and fasting. The next 3 days the focus is on..."I Repent". The simple act of repentance and belief in the ONE that was to come and bear the sins of the world. One act, released the greatest gift ever for mankind. This gracious free gift is way too BIG for the human heart. The thought of being made right with God, many struggle to digest this truth. That's why we sit in the state of repentance, grieving the sins in our lives and yet you said we are right with God even though we are guilty of many sins. Now this free gift does not make allowances for continued sin, this kind of gift should rendered an awe inspiring reverence. Who would not want to give their lives in return for this incredible gift of love that was freely lavished on us. Love died for me, can I live for it!

Many hold back their love for fear of rejection, fear of giving oneself to another only to be betrayed, cheated on, lied too. Many struggle with giving of themselves completely to another, if I give all of me, there will be none of me left. Love has been redefined by the hurts of its victims. AND YET, THIS INCREDIBLE LOVE FREELY OFFERED TO THE SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF MEN, ONLY FOR THE PURPOSE OF GOOD! ITS A GOOD LOVE IF WE COULD ONLY ACCEPT IT!

I could reflect all day on this gift of life freely presented to me. Thank you Father, thank you for loving me, for showing me what pure love looks like.

Loving my neighbor...

Matthew 22:37-40 (NLT)
37 Jesus replied, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment.
39 A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
40 The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”

Good Morning Father,

Day 1 of 21 days of prayer and fasting, a season of consecration. I adore you so much Lord, I love you with all my heart, soul and all my mind. Setting all of me before you this morning. Mindful of the second commandment, to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Much love to go around this morning, its starts inside of me, works its way outside of me. Lord, permit me to share this incredible love with those you place in my path. Today, our Nation remembers Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. His legacy, his love, his discipline, his response to his enemies.  We can all set our love on our friends and our good neighbors, but not all neighbors are good and the emphasis was never on their goodness but more on our commitment to this commandment to love!

A man who hates cannot love, both darkness and light cannot dwell inside of a man. Either we are children of the day or children of the night, to have our feet in both the night and the day, place us nowhere. There is nothing profitable about being lukewarm. Make me hot, make me cold, but don't make me lukewarm. Jesus, my love is hot, the burning desire in me to love comes from YOUR spirit at work in me. Thank you for that. I get the reality of hate, hate can rise when we least expect it. Betrayed...CRUCIFIED, no one knows more than you that men can be very hateful. None of that mattered to you, your agenda surpasses the hatred of men. They knew not what they were doing, but YOU DID!

When you see me...

John 14:9-11 (NLT)
9  Jesus replied, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking me to show him to you?
10  Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I speak are not my own, but my Father who lives in me does his work through me.

Good Morning Father,
Sitting in your presence basking in the gifts of your words of life and truth. Reflective! As I read, various thoughts are piercing my heart. Thoughts about people you love, reading your conversation with one of the disciples. "When you see me, you see the Father" You said that you and the Father would come make his home with me/us. Can I say? When you see me, you have seen the Father and the Son. Surely that's true. Oh that we would see one another in that way, a refreshing smile from the neighbor next to me.

I attended a home going celebration of a father of the gospel this week, the preacher often had us saying something to our neighbor, in a sense I believe he was saying "help me share this good news". Honestly, I grew weary of talking to my neighbor in this instance. Perhaps that's the problem, we have forgotten how to talk to our neighbors. There are more awkward moments between people than ever before. We don't know how to converse with people. Today, let's just start with a smile, a warm reflection speaks volumes.

Thankful for this reminder.
